A company with tradition
Dr. Niedermaier Pharma GmbH, located in Hohenbrunn near Munich, has been an independent, German family-owned company since 1939 with a rich tradition and profound expertise in botany, fermentation, and enzyme research.
It has always been the aspiration of Dr. Niedermaier Pharma to develop and produce outstanding, nature-based products. People from many countries around the world trust the company's expertise and use its innovative products as constant companions on their path to well-being and beauty.
How it all began
In a time marked by turmoil and uncertainty, the visionary pharmacist and food chemist Dr. Hans Niedermaier (1913 - 2003) took the courageous step of founding a company. By pursuing his vision of "health in a natural way" and the philosophy of "healing through self-healing," he brought his conviction to life. Finally, in 1939, the pharmaceutical company Dr. Niedermaier Pharma GmbH was founded in Hohenbrunn near Munich.
Through his research in naturopathy, Dr. Hans Niedermaier gained extensive knowledge about the fascinating deep-acting effects of ferments. These fundamental insights provided a valuable understanding of the functionality of the body's own enzymes. With this knowledge, he developed a new production technology: Cascade Fermentation. This innovative and patented process is considered the "gold standard of fermentation."
With passion and a vision for the big breakthrough
The family business was taken over and further developed in 2001 by the founder’s daughter, pharmacist Dr. rer. nat. Cordula Niedermaier-May.
After completing her pharmacy studies, Cordula Niedermaier-May became self-employed and successfully opened her own pharmacy. But then came a turning point. In 2000, the family dog fell ill from pesticide poisoning and recovered after being given a fermented essence. This life-changing experience prompted Cordula Niedermaier-May to sell her pharmacy and take over her father’s then-struggling company and research after all.
Her vision: to support people in a natural way. Passion, courage, her positive attitude, and her belief in the product helped this Bavarian powerhouse make the company a success.
Following a 6-page PR article in the magazine "Natur und Heilen" in 2003, thousands of bottles were ordered overnight, and one phone call followed the next. More inquiries, more production, more staff, and from then on, machine support were established.
A New Chapter
In July 2022, the founding Niedermaier-May family began a new chapter for Dr. Niedermaier GmbH. Ufenau Capital Partners acquired a majority stake in the Dr. Niedermaier Pharma Group. The goal is to establish Dr. Niedermaier as a leading corporate group in the European food supplement sector.
Together with Ufenau, the strong market position is to be expanded through strategic acquisitions, the broadening of the product portfolio, and the extension of the geographical reach.
Dennis Gmeiner has been the new Managing Director in Hohenbrunn since November 2024 and explains the company strategy following the transition:
"With Ufenau Capital Partners from Switzerland, we have a strong strategic investor in the background. This does not change our corporate culture or our commitment to ensuring people's health with our products, but we now have entirely different possibilities, such as generating synergies within a growing corporate group. For this purpose, the parent company NZYM Group was founded.
With the Sinoplasan Group, it has acquired another corporate group from the food supplement sector. Based near Stuttgart, they are very strong in the production of food supplements in capsule format. We anticipate significant synergy potential here for the future."
