The Fascinating Journey of Our Organic Figs
Our figs come from the idyllic mountain villages around Aydin in Turkey. There, they thrive under optimal climatic conditions and are cultivated by around 80 dedicated farming families on a total area of approximately 254 hectares. The harvest begins in early September, a particularly careful process as the figs already start to dry on the tree.
After harvesting, a natural drying process of four to five days follows in the warm sun – either on the ground or in special plastic boxes. This gentle process preserves the intense aroma and valuable nutrients of the figs. Afterwards, they are cleaned, sorted, and subjected to strict aflatoxin control in a specialized processing facility in Izmir. Only then are they shipped to Germany to ensure that only the best quality reaches our products.
